Valerie Doherty Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

Valerie Doherty, CEO of Minneapolis-based Doherty Employment Group, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Minnesota at its annual Achieve! Awards on Wednesday, October 28th. This esteemed award is based on long-term success and leadership as a business owner, in addition to respected achievements and tenacity in facing challenges.

The formal event, held at St. Paul’s Midpointe Event Center, is focused on celebrating and honoring some of the top women business owners in Minnesota for their exceptional contributions and success. Seventeen women were recognized with awards, some of which included the Vision Award, Multi-Generational Business Award and Businesswoman of the Year Award, which Doherty received in 1998.

As Owner and Chief Executive Officer, Doherty oversees the human resources, benefits, legal and risk management departments of Doherty Employment Group. Her down-to-earth approach and savvy intellect have continued to nurture her winning attitude, inspiring individuals around her to strive for success in everything they do. The family-owned company recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, and with the same ardor she had in those early years of the business, Doherty continues to demonstrate a true passion for her work.

Doherty states, “Working with Tim to build our business over the course of more than 30 years has proven to be incredibly challenging, exciting and rewarding. Growing up in Litchfield as one of six children – the daughter of a truck driver and a homemaker – I would never have imagined the life I am now living.”
