2015 marks an important milestone for family-owned Doherty Employment Group, as the company celebrates 35 years of excellence in employment services.
March 31, 2015 | Minneapolis, MN ~ Doherty Employment Group, widely recognized as an industry-leading staffing and human resources outsourcing company, is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.
“The company was started in the midst of a terrible recession, when companies were likely to cut back on temporary employees,” says chairman and founder Tim Doherty. “At age 26, I didn’t know much about running a business, but despite those obstacles, the business model just made sense.”
Doherty then and now
In 1982, Doherty installed its first computer system, making it one of the first organizations in the industry to take advantage of technology for candidate search and retrieval. Three years later in 1985, Inc. Magazine named the business as one of the 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in the United States. Each year brought new challenges and triumphs, which ultimately fueled a drive for success that would lead the company to expand business into the Midwest and navigate through a second major economic downturn in 2008.
Today, Doherty operates nearly 20 office locations and over 25 remote locations across the Midwest. Aside from our corporate office in Edina, additional main territory offices are located in St. Cloud and Owatonna.
